Finding themes to keep your content strategy running is not always easy, as we know. Fortunately, there are several commemorative dates that can give you the chance to produce something interesting and engaging. Halloween, for example, can be an opportunity to think about some cool content for your blog or social networks. Make no mistake, although the date is much more famous in the United States, more and more Brazilians are buying the idea and the climate. But how to take advantage of this chance that happens only once a year?
Use the theme to generate useful content!
The United States Disease Control Center (CDC) got 77,000 likes on Facebook because of Halloween. How? It was all due to the creation of a content offering called “Disaster Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse guide.” (Preparing for Disaster 101: A Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse). Using the fame of The Walking Dead and the atmosphere generated by Halloween, the organization managed to attract the attention of thousands of people.
When we are close to any holiday it is natural for people to search for more content related to it and you can take advantage of it to increase your visibility. Does your company have a recipe blog? How about teaching how to make decorated pumpkins, typical of the date? If you work with events, why not teach your audience to have a theme party? Invitebox did just that, for example.
The possibilities are endless, just develop the content in a way that is useful for your specific audience.
Abuse of engagement!
On Halloween people are always sharing content in the form of photos of costumes, parties, etc. How about using that to your advantage? Ask about Halloween plans. Create a competition of photos or videos of the best fantasy, invite your audience to judge and share those they think are the best and distribute prizes to the best and most shared or liked. Even if your company has nothing to do with cat ears or vampire capes, this can be an excellent way to increase engagement. User-generated content is also part of a marketing strategy!
Entertain your audience
Holiday dates like Halloween are moments of fun and entertainment, when people are more interested in having pleasant experiences and associate these values with the subject. So how about making some kind of content that will entertain the public, according to the date? See how a video can have very interesting results: the American ecommerce brand Westlake Ace Hardware created a series of videos that went viral and had thousands of views on Youtube, winning national media attention.
Halloween and other holidays are when brands can be more informal and personal. Even if your company is not going to directly benefit from sales generated by Halloween (in the United States consumption reaches 7 billion dollars), you can certainly take advantage of the attention obtained by its content related to the date.
