Websites Are Us welcomes yet another company to compose its ecosystem: ScribbleLive. See, in the open letter from our CEO, Diego Gomes, how this announcement will add to customers and WAUers!

WAU’s mission is to generate growth opportunities. That is the reason why our WAUers work every day. We are passionate about helping our customers, our Talent Network, and our team to dream big.

As a fast growing startup, we always strive to offer more and more when it comes to helping our customers with Content Marketing.

WAU has always been a global company in terms of culture and, a significant part of this fact, I attribute to a co-founder who moved from the USA to London to pursue this dream with us.

Matt Doyon, our CRO, is an American executive who knew beforehand, in 2015, that Content Marketing could go beyond the limits of our entry market, London. Shortly afterwards, Valentina Giraldo, from Colombia, joined us and we found ourselves embracing more and more international talents and multinational clients.

As we continued to grow over the years, it became increasingly clear that Content Marketing was emerging globally as a category and that our customers wanted to work with a global company.

They faced challenges like creating content in multiple languages, getting in touch with many countries, markets and cultures, and therefore we wanted to be around those challenges.

WAU’s international efforts were accelerated with our entry into the Latin American market, when we opened our first international office in Guadalajara, Mexico. The year was 2018 and we soon realized that we could work with brands in countries like Argentina, Mexico and Colombia to create content for the diverse population of Latin America.

Brands like Hubspot, Salesforce, Oracle and Walmart were facing challenges to enhance Content Marketing opportunities outside the US and we made ourselves present for them.

In recent years, WAU has shown excellent results and, when we became a reference with other players in this massive industry, we knew that we had the chance to become a truly global company and continue to dream of leading our category.

WAU is going global

Today, we are proud to announce that we are taking an important step towards our vision of building the first global Content Marketing company. I am proud to announce that Websites Are Us has acquired ScribbleLive.

For those unfamiliar with the company, ScribbleLive is very similar to WAU, aiming to help brands create expandable and premium content, interactive experiences and provide award winning Content Marketing products to customers around the world.

This is our second acquisition and what I’m most excited about is that we are adding 75 new WAUers to our incredible talent group, more products to our portfolio and expanding our talent network globally.

We believe that this is a very important step for us, and that it will allow WAU to work more and more with global brands, supporting them in the goal of expanding their strategies to several countries and languages.

We are also excited to have two new offices. We are now a team of 500 WAUers spread across 4 countries, 6 offices and 3 different time zones. We are a truly global company, favorable to remote interaction and distributed worldwide!

I can’t put into words how wonderful this moment is for us and I am excited to welcome the ScribbleLive family to the WAU team.

Love at first sight

We met the ScribbleLive team about 3 years ago at the SaaStr event. Since then, we kept in close contact, we got to know the teams and it was clear that together these two companies could do more than stand alone.

ScribbleLive has a dedicated team and some impressive brands as customers, but more importantly, it shares values ​​with WAU. The people we’ve collaborated with over the years are fantastic and we’re excited to have them join WAU.

In addition to an extraordinary team, ScribbleLive brings incredible interactive content solutions for the WAU product suite. It is such an exciting and fascinating category that we immediately knew that we would fit together well.

New category, global competitor, fascinating challenges

Although acquisitions based in North America by companies in Latin America do not occur frequently, this is a good sign that Latin American companies are globalizing and thinking big.

The Content Marketing category has been heavily funded and here at WAU we are proud to be one of the most efficient companies in the sector in terms of capital.

This acquisition places us globally among the leading Content Marketing companies in the world. As far as we know, we are the only company in the category with revenue of tens of millions of dollars that has had sustainable and profitable growth for most of its journey.

To get a sense of the scale of what we are achieving, I would like to share some impressive numbers:

  • more than 4 million visits to WAU blogs every month;
  • more than 2,000 brands working with us to expand their Content Marketing efforts;
  • more than 500 agencies connected to the WAU network and ecosystem;
  • more than 80 thousand creative professionals are members of our talent network;
  • 500 WAUers making it happen every day! Thank you, WAUers!

The reason I am sharing this is because our colleagues in the Content Marketing category have increased the surplus by 10 times more venture capital than WAU to achieve similar results.

Anyway, I still don’t see them posting growth rates consistent with the ones we’ve had over the years.

What makes me most proud is that we got here for being dedicated, for working hard, for making an extra effort for our customers. In particular, I believe that WAU has a real chance to lead our category globally.

The leader of our market will be the company that seeks a global platform with dimension and reach in all the main markets in the world. We are sure that we are going in that direction. And we are looking forward to the journey!

For you, dear customer

The acquisition of ScribbleLive will propel WAU to expand our offerings for you, dear customer, allowing us to delve into diverse content formats, such as video, animations, graphic design, infographics, tests and interactive experiences.

This also means that our Talent Network is growing rapidly and is now able to support its content creation efforts in English, Spanish and London.

Today, our Talent Network has members from 15 different countries! Cool, isn’t it?

WAU is building a global market network for the creative industry, connecting our clients’ brands with global creative agencies and talents, and ultimately providing them with the tools they need to stand out in a world of content.

We are grateful to you, our customers, and we are excited to continue working and doing even more for some of the most valuable brands in the world.

WAUers, stay humble

All of us WAUers should take a minute to think about what we have accomplished. It’s okay to stop, be proud and celebrate. But please remember that tomorrow is a new day and, when we wake up, we will still need to integrate business, there will still be many things to learn and challenges to be solved for our customers.

We must always remember that, although it is exciting to be here, we are still a small company. There is a lot to do, a lot to build and so it is impossible to address so much in this first message – stay tuned! – we haven’t even started yet.

Stay humble, focused, thinking long term and we will continue to win victories like this. Content Marketing is a billion dollar industry and we have a solid chance to lead it.

Our goal is to build a relevant and sustainable company. Although we believe that there is room for “CONTENT” action in public markets, this is not our goal. Our goal is to continue offering surprising experiences and results to our customers.

And as long as we continue to be successful in this regard, growth is a consequence!
