Backups from the cPanel Hosting Panel

At Websites Are Us we have a Cpanel-level application called SuperBackup that will facilitate the management of backups or backups that are automatically made in your hosting account.

If you make changes to your site and want to go back to the way it was before these changes, but did not make a backup, don’t worry, you can use SuperBackup to restore your website.

At Websites Are Us we have three backup systems, one of which is SuperBackup.

SuperBackup offers a simple interface and various options for restoring backups from the last 30 days.

Once you enter your hosting account, locate the Websites Are Us Applications section and then the SuperBackup application

Location Superbackup

After entering you will see that you have two sections, the first one shows the possible recovery options you can do and the other one a history of the restorations you have made.

Let’s focus on the first section, we see that you have the following options:
Superbackup options

Download Full Copy

option 1 full copy

This option allows you to download a complete copy of the Cpanel account from your site, that is, it includes files, emails, databases, etc.

It is recommended to use this option when you are an advanced user and want to manually restore your account.

After clicking on download full copy, a screen will appear where you can select the date and see the time the backup was made

After you select a date and click next, you will see a confirmation screen appear

Then another screen will appear with the download link, if by mistake you closed this screen, don’t worry, you will still see the copy available on the main screen in the Restoration History section.

This option allows you to restore the email accounts whose content was stored on the server at the time of the copy, this is because if you have configured your email accounts with POP3 to download to your local machine, then the emails are not stored in the server and therefore will not be part of the copy.

When using the option to Restore mail it will show you a screen to select the date of the copy that you want to restore

In the first option we saw that you could restore the entire public_html directory, but many times this is impractical.

If you know what files you have modified or what directories you have changed, then it would be more convenient to just restore those specific files or directories.

After selecting the Restore file / directory option, the screen to select the date will appear

Selection of restoration date

By giving next, a screen will appear where we will place the name of the file or directory that we want to restore.

directory or file selection

After searching for a file or directory, a list of possible matches will appear.

For example if we look for the file wp-config.php something similar to the following image will appear

Software like WordPress, Joomla or PrestaShop not only use files, but also have a database to store your information.

With this option you can restore a copy of your site’s database.

Once this option is selected, a screen will appear to select the date on which you want to perform the restoration.

Selection of restoration date

After selecting a date and clicking next, the system will search all the databases available in your hosting account.

We will also see a new record in the restoration history, in addition to the system sending you an email when the process ended.

Restore Web

option 6 restore web

We have previously seen that you can restore files or databases separately, however a practical and widely used option is to restore an entire website, that is, with this option you can restore both the files and the database of your website in one certain date.

When we select this option to Restore Web, a screen will appear asking us to enter the date

Selection of restoration date

After selecting next, the system will search for the websites that I have installed in my hosting account.

After finishing, it will show a list of the websites found, you will see that you have an extra icon in each record that you can display.

When deploying more options you will see the site restore button

When using the site restore button, a confirmation screen will appear, which also detects the directory and database associated with the website.
